Studying for my FCC Amateur General License Carry
Our Take
This EDC loadout leans heavily into a preparedness and technical/tinkering aesthetic. It's a blend of practical tools for everyday tasks, combined with items suggesting an interest in radio communication, digital security, and potentially, outdoor/survival skills. The color scheme is largely muted, with pops of orange from the Meshtastic node and radio. The inclusion of multiple tools suggests a desire to be self-reliant and capable of handling a wide range of situations. The Helikon-Tex waist pack appears to be the central carry system, and it's well-populated.
Pros
The quality of the items appears high. Brands like Winkler, Victorinox, Nitecore, Sony, and Anker are known for their durable and reliable products. The inclusion of a radio and Meshtastic node indicates a preparedness mindset and interest in off-grid communication. The tool selection (multitools, knife, driver kit) provides excellent versatility. The power bank and earbuds cater to modern digital needs.
Suggestions
The loadout is quite dense and could be streamlined. There's some overlap in functionality – two multitools (Victorinox and Gerber) might be redundant for some users. Consider if both are truly necessary, or if one could be replaced with a more specialized tool. A wallet is not visible, which is a common EDC item. While the field book is useful, a digital note-taking solution (on the calculator or phone) could reduce bulk. The loadout is also quite heavy, so consider weight reduction if comfort is a concern.
