Carry Update
Our Take
This loadout is a minimalist, improvisational approach to EDC, heavily reliant on repurposing common items for multiple uses. It's a "make do and mend" style, prioritizing resourcefulness over dedicated tools. The aesthetic is decidedly utilitarian and low-profile. The user clearly values longevity and has a history with these items, as evidenced by the years of carry. The loadout is very light, but the user feels it is already too much.
Pros
The primary advantage of this loadout is its incredibly low weight and cost. Each item is readily available and inexpensive. The user has demonstrated a strong understanding of the potential uses for each item, maximizing their utility. The long-term carry of these items speaks to their reliability and the user's satisfaction.
Suggestions
Given the user's concern about being "loaded down," adding anything further is likely not advisable. However, if the user were to consider additions, focusing on consolidating functions would be key. A small multi-tool could potentially replace the paperclip and penny for prying/screwdriving tasks, though it would add weight. A dedicated fire starter (ferro rod or lighter) would be more reliable than lint. A small microfiber cloth would be a more effective and hygienic alternative to lint for cleaning glasses. Overall, the loadout is already quite minimal, and further additions might defeat the purpose.
